Are you looking for a dance studio that is strong in technique and performance skills? We have found a way to achieve this without the enormous expense of competitions and unnecessary numerous costume purchases. We do take into consideration time and fiscal issues. Most students attend classes once a week allowing time for other activities, making them more well-rounded, happier children. Through positive reinforcement and a non-stressful environment, our students develop self-confidence and a healthy, positive self-image. Yes, we can help nurture the whole child.
During a class at our studio, you will hear no negative tones or comments from the instructor. You will only find smiling faces, laughter, and comfort. Our students and parents love our classes!
Here at the Melissa Nemetz School of Dance we have certain standards we maintain. Every child is important to us and every child is made aware of its unique qualities. While competitive atmospheres drive other philosophies, we are driven by the desire to teach strong technique. We have found that children progress naturally in a non-stressful environment. We focus on knowledge of the art, technique, kinesiology, teamwork, and the ability to perform in front of others, when done in the right manner produces poise, self-discipline and self esteem.
We are extremely proud of our program. Our reputation in the Pittsburgh area is impeccable. The goals that we share are ones that resonate through our lives. We teach the whole child: mind, body and soul.
Service Areas
Founded in September 1991 by Melissa Nemetz with a vision of teaching dance in a positive environment, the school has expanded to three locations. The studio has a staff of exceptionally qualified instructors from the Pittsburg area. The Franklin Park and Cranberry locations are supported by the Recreation Departments, while the Wexford site is in the Murray Plaza just north of Wexford Plaza on Route 19 serving McCandless, Marshal, Pine, Mars, Cranberry, Evans City, Ross, Hampton, Sewickly, Zelienople, Allison Park and McKnight areas.
During our time in the Pittsburgh area, we have had the privilege to meet and teach literally thousands of girls (and boys!) the art of dance. We have become a mainstay in the community reaching out to many demographics. Ranging from Girl Scout camps and church camps, to corporate functions, we have been called up on to entertain. Our performances in the past have included Beechview Community Days, Pine Community Days, Sts John and Paul church, St. Alexis festival and St. John Lutheran Center. We have also given back to the community via donations to Toys for Tots, United Way, Treasures for Kids, Wexford Presbyterian Church, Hosack Elementary, Beechview Lions Club and Spina Bifida Foundations. We have also sponsored a girl’s softball team for the Beechview Athletic Association.
